Ben Nicholas proposes a process that favors Republicans in Republican Primary Elections:

July 28, 2021
Subject: Disenfranchisement

To Whom it may concern,

Our movement to close the Republican primaries has never been an attempt to disenfranchise any Republican voter. In fact, it is the exact opposite, we are trying to create a new internal system where all Republicans can participate and vote if they wish.

This movement is also an attempt to stop Democratic money from interfering in Republican party politics and to curtail the counting of Republican ballots by Democrats using questionable voting methods.

The caucus method was and still is the first step where all registered Republicans are invited to participate, but it is not the final step in the current selection process. The caucus is held in March for only two hours on one night, the time constrains alone disenfranchises many Republicans. As a beginning point, we can use this as the platform to launch and build our new internal selection system.

The proposed bylaw changes that this group submitted is the starting point for a dialogue to create a new internal system where all Republicans who wish can participate and vote. At the SCC meeting this fall, friendly amendments can be made to the proposed bylaws to enhance this new system.

Once we opt-out, we will have between six to nine months to create and implement this new internal system in which we will be capable of counting our own ballots.

The current law has two serious constitutional questions and yet not one of our past or current chairmen has chosen to fight for the members of this party. The current law is supported by establishment Republicans who like this system. The Democrats are moving this state closer to a jungle primary or ranked voting. Their ultimate goal is the total destruction of the Republican party.

We must make a motion at the SCC fall meeting that the state party file suit on constitutional grounds.
