(This is the letter from Chairman Tonkins I received today as a voting member of the State Central Committee.)
Dear Peg,
As you know, there will be a special meeting on January 31, 2023, via zoom concerning El Paso County Republicans.
Kristi Burton Brown is furnishing to the state central committee the complainants' (to include her father) official statement that traffics in character assassination and unsubstantiated accusations but censoring what our official response and defense can say in the email exchange below.
There is a clear bias and conflict of interest and Kristi should recuse herself from chairing the meeting next Tuesday.
Since Kristi is engaging in censorship, please see our attached response that we submitted as our defense.
Please read what Kristi doesn't want you to see.

It's absurd that you would double-down on your attempts to tip the scales in favor of one side over another, especially to the point of compelling the type of speech we offer in our defense.
The fact that you won't allow El Paso County to speak freely and defend ourselves without censorship proves your bias and conflict of interest in this dispute. You've created a two tier system of rules where the complainants, to include your father, are allowed to engage in character assassination and unsubstantiated accusations but El Paso County Republicans are required to have your permission on what's appropriate in the content of our speech.
The response we gave is the only response we will provide. If you choose to censor our speech, then you are no different than the Democrats you claim to oppose.

Thanks for sending your response. When I asked for a response, I specifically said, “ I am looking for information that is on point - why you should be the one to chair the meeting instead of a neutral party. I won't consider information attacking the people who wrote the reasons relevant because they aren't asking to run the meeting; they're asking for a neutral party to do so.”
Unfortunately, you have mixed attacking the people who wrote the reasons with information on why you should run the meeting, and you’ve added your own thoughts on why we shouldn’t have this meeting. If you want to campaign to cancel the meeting, you are welcome to, but that’s not relevant to the purpose of the meeting. If you’d like to revise your statement and include relevant information only without personal attacks that have no relevance to the resolution of the meeting, I’m still happy to send one out for you.
