COLORADO GOP'S VC ELECTION MATTERS!

Former Colorado GOP Vice Chairman D. Lee Phelan, Sr., has resigned from his position, creating a vacancy which needs filled by a majority vote of the Colorado Republican Central Committee.

When BCR Chairman Peg Cage questioned State Chairman Brita Horn about why the committee is being called to meet online, Horn said that she didn't want the committee to have to travel to two meetings this summer, and besides, she said, "It's just the Vice Chairman, it doesn't really matter."

Most of the Boulder County Republican Executive Committee members plan to sign a petition to have the vote for Vice Chairman in PERSON, ON SECRET PAPER BALLOTS, AND HAND-COUNTED. To us, it REALLY MATTERS that the vote be verifiably honest and that our Vice Chairman was provably elected by the majority of votes.

Even if you don't have a vote, you have a voice and can tell Chairman Horn (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) you'd like the State Central Committee to meet in person and vote on paper ballots. It MATTERS!

REMINDER – THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN PERSON –
The idea of skirting the Colorado State Central Committee requirement that “Officers shall be elected by majority vote using a secret ballot…” started during the COVID scare.  Even the 2021 Organizational Meeting for the election of officers should have been entirely in person.  According to the temporary law cited in the Call for that meeting, “any required acts of a political party…” are “Critical Government Functions”  even up to the ORANGE level, “Critical Government Functions may continue to operate without capacity limitations.”

Peg Cage Comments About the “2025 Elections Procedures” linked to the SCC Call as “CRC Conduct of Elections,” and dated 3/14/2025.

The second paragraph states: These Election Procedures were proposed by the CRC Chairman and adopted by the CRC Executive Committee on June 19, 2023 in accordance with Article V, Section B(1)(p) of the Bylaws of the Colorado Republican Committee as amended on September 21, 2019 (the “CRC Bylaws”).

The Chairman in 2023 was David Williams.  The latest amended copy of the CRC bylaws, also attached, was effective on January 1, 2025, not 2019.  The cited Article V, Section B(1)(p) does not exist in the new bylaws.

If in fact Chairman Horn has not submitted and the Executive Committee approved a new copy of the Election Procedures, she is negligent in her duty, according to:
ARTICLE V: OFFICERS Section B. Duties., 1. The Chairman shall: o. Within 3 months of taking office, each new Chairman shall submit to the Executive Committee for approval policies and procedures for assuring integrity of voting and elections at the CRC, which policy and procedures shall include provisions regarding, but not limited to, (i) individuals or officers responsible for implementation and their authority; (ii) credentials, proxies, voting records retention and access; (iii) use of technology; (iv) quality assurance, training, schedule, etc.

Before Approving the 2025 Election Procedures, I challenge the new Colorado Republican Executive Committee to remove Chairman William’s addition of “the Zoom Platform” from acceptable methods of conducting “secret ballot” elections.

If a world-changing “pandemic” isn’t reason enough to stop the gathering of our political organization when we need to elect new officers, should we succumb to using laziness or convenience as an excuse to stop us from conducting an IN-PERSON SECRET BALLOT election?

Peg Cage, Chairman Boulder County Republicans

From Mark Hampton email, 6/20/2025

Dear Chairwoman Horn and Secretary Andrews,

Thank you for issuing the official call for the upcoming Colorado Republican State Central Committee Special Meeting to elect the next Vice Chair. As a candidate for this important role and a longtime advocate for grassroots transparency and accountability, I would like to raise a few concerns and seek clarification on the format and procedures you've outlined, particularly your decision to hold this meeting in an online-only format.

As you’re aware, the SCC membership expressed strong objections to virtual-only voting during the last online meeting under Chair Williams, particularly when significant bylaw amendments were under discussion. Many members clearly stated that a virtual environment is inadequate for matters of such consequence. Given the importance of electing a new officer, I believe that the default should be an in-person meeting to ensure full debate, clarity, and confidence in the process.

That said, I have two specific areas I’d appreciate greater insight on:

1. Credentialing Process

During the SCC Officer Meeting, both in person and online, fewer than one-third of the members attempted the credentialing process online, and it still took over three hours to complete. This time, the entire voting body will need to be credentialed. Based on the current agenda, it seems there isn't sufficient time allocated to accommodate this process. Please guide me through your complete credentialing process: timelines, technical procedures, contingency plans, and who is responsible for ensuring compliance.

2. Voting Integrity and Transparency

As you know, a significant portion of the SCC prefers paper ballots and in-person voting due to past concerns about electronic voting accuracy and auditability. In that context, I’d like to better understand the mechanics and oversight of this online vote. Specifically:

My goal here is simple: to ensure that the process is fair, transparent, and earns the confidence of every voting member, regardless of whom they support. These are fundamental principles of good leadership and healthy governance.

I appreciate your time and look forward to your prompt and detailed response.

Regards,

Mark Hampton
Candidate for Vice Chair, Colorado GOP

From a Sunday 6/29/2025 4:24 PM Mark Hampton email blast -

So who is Mark Hampton guy running for Colorado GOP Vice Chair?

Dear Colorado State Central Committee Voting Members,

Patriots of Colorado, get ready because I’m about to deliver a powerful message. My name is Mark Hampton, and I’m running for Vice Chair of the Colorado GOP. I’m not here to sip cocktails, sing Kumbaya, or hand out friendship bracelets to the establishment and RINOs. I’m here to shake things up and hopefully restore our party to its conservative roots, even if I have to drag it kicking and screaming.

Let me introduce myself. I’m a San Diegan, raised in a Navy family, growing up around SEALS and at Fighter Town USA. I moved to Colorado in 1982 with my wife Pam to chase the American dream of owning a home. I’ve spent my life fighting for what makes this country worth saving: the Second Amendment, the sanctity of life, and a government so small you’d need a magnifying glass to find it. As a writer and activist, I’ve called out the spineless Republicans, the sellouts, and the squishes who’d rather cozy up to Colorado’s elites than stand for conservative values and principles. I’ve never backed down, even when the fights get dirty.

Now, let’s talk about the Colorado GOP. Good Lord, what a spectacle (as they say in the south, Bless their Hearts). Since the new officers took over, it’s been like watching a clown car crash in slow motion, except the clowns are full of egos and nobody’s laughing. Infighting? We have more drama than a reality TV show. Direction? We’re wandering like Moses in the desert, but without the burning bush. And results? Let’s just say we’ll probably have to give participation trophies to any Republicans running in Colorado in 2026, not wins. The true grassroots conservative (not that fake bunch), you guys, are the heart and soul of this party, but the new officers have been ignoring you, sidelining you, and treating your values and principles like a suggestion box they forgot to empty.

That’s where I come in. I’m not here to simply manage this mess or put a Band-Aid on a broken leg with a bone sticking out. I’m here to bring a sledgehammer to the table. Sometimes, you have to break a few things before genuine change can happen. Look at Jesus, yeah, “that” Jesus. When he saw the temple turned into a flea market, He didn’t write a strongly worded social media post or form a committee. He flipped tables, scattered coins, and gave the money-changers a wake-up call that echoed through history. That’s the energy I want to bring to the Colorado GOP. We need a reckoning, not a retreat or a 2-minute video.

Here’s my promise to you: as Vice Chair, I’ll fight tirelessly to bring together genuine conservatives, not those who bow to pressure or gauge the wind before taking a stand (if they take a stand at all). I’ll advocate for a party that listens to the real grassroots rather than the consultants willing to sell us out for another check. I will work to build a winning machine, not just argue on social media (that is not going away, just saying). And I won’t shy away from tough fights, whether it’s defending our guns, protecting the unborn, or telling the woke mob to keep their filthy hands off our children and take their pronouns and shove ‘em. And of course, I am committed to getting true conservatives elected in Colorado.

I will take a stand on the issues of the day; I refuse to stay silent like some do (1312 ring any bells). Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Another politician promising the moon?” Nope. I’m not a politician. I’m a fighter carrying a chip on my shoulder. I don’t care about titles, photo ops, or interviews. I care about reclaiming Colorado for the people who love this state, farmers, ranchers, small business owners, moms, and dads who just want their kids to grow up free. If you want politeness, hire a diplomat. If you want results, vote for me.

The Colorado GOP is at a turning point. We can keep stumbling forward, or we can rise up, stand firm, and make this party a force to be reckoned with. I’m asking for your vote not because I want a fancy title, but because I want to build a party that makes the left tremble in their Birkenstocks and the establishment and RINOs fear us, the true grassroot conservatives. Let’s flip those tables together.

Vote for Mark Hampton as Colorado GOP Vice Chair. Let’s make the establishment sweat.

God bless,
Mark Hampton
Candidate for Colorado GOP Vice Chair

P.S.

I will start scheduling regional video calls on Friday, the 11th, so watch for your invite. Thank you to everyone who has already taken my calls, and the grassroots army that is forming all around this state to help me win.

In other significant news, I will be debating Richard Holtorf on Thursday, July 10. More details to come. Keep in mind that only one question will be asked, as Richard tends to talk a lot during his answers (luv ya, Richard!). Honestly, it should be a fun time because life is too short to get caught up in nonsense.
