Subject: 5 Reasons to Vote No!
There are many reasons not to opt out of the primary. Below are just five of the reasons I will be voting against the opt out proposal.
Fellow SCC members:
There are many reasons not to opt out of the primary. Below are just five of the reasons I will be voting against the opt out proposal.
1. This vote does not close the primary but instead removes us from the primary process altogether.
2. By leaving the process Democrats get the sole opportunity to have their candidate's names in millions of Coloradans households. Every unaffiliated voter will receive a primary ballot with only Democratic candidates.
3. This vote would alienate the largest voter base in Colorado, making difficult races impossible, competitive races difficult, and easy races competitive.
4. Republicans have historically had a difficult time recruiting participants for caucus. Only 5% of all Republicans attend. Do we really want a select few to select our candidates? Candidates should be vetted and tried by as many voters as possible.
5. We will lose the most effective training ground for candidates we have. I have not met a candidate who didn't learn numerous lessons during the primary that directly led to improved performance in the general.
