AN OPEN LETTER TO FELLOW COLORADO REPUBLICANS REGARDING THE STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING ON SEPTEMBER

I attended this meeting as a voting member. Many people who did not attend have since asked me why the meeting was so bad; not the individual agenda issues and votes (those are now a matter of record), but why so many in attendance felt that it was a total shit-show. Perhaps I can shed some light on this. Below are the first few things that came to mind, I’m sure there are many more.

1. Meeting was held in a medical center/campus that performs abortions, contrary to the Republican party’s stance on pro-life.

2. Meeting was held in a facility that doesn’t allow legal concealed carry of firearms, contrary to the Republican party’s pro Second Amendment stance.

3. Restrooms on the same floor of the meeting were all-gender, causing multiple incidents of men inadvertently walking in on women in a restroom.

4. The meeting was called to order and presided over for the first 20 minutes by the party Secretary, instead of the Chairman, which violated established bylaws.

5. The Chairman did not announce to the attendees that the venue was only reserved until 1:00pm. When it became obvious that our business wasn’t going to be completed by 1:00pm, campus police gave us another hour, but even that deadline wasn’t announced to the attendees until approximately 1:30pm. The extra hour proved to be insufficient, and the meeting was adjourned before all business on the agenda was completed.

6. The Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Parliamentarian each gave multiple rambling and redundant speeches, ostensibly to encourage unity, which consumed valuable time, with no apparent regard for the deadline for the venue.

7. The Chairman excoriated the body of attendees from the podium, castigating them for opposing her, and comparing herself to Erika Kirk and even Jesus Christ as she offered to forgive them.

8. The Parliamentarian for the meeting was not credentialed with the National Association of Parliamentarians and consistently demonstrated a lack of institutional knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order. The meeting was put into recess multiple times so that leadership could huddle with the Parliamentarian and determine the proper response to an issue.

9. Multiple inflammatory statements by the Chairman resulted in the meeting erupting in chaos, and instead of maintaining order through established methods of decorum she constantly yelled “Hush, you guys,” and even “Everybody shut up!”

10. The meeting was not properly adjourned and is technically still in session. No motion was made and passed to adjourn our meeting. “Meeting Rule 6. – The Meeting shall not be adjourned until all business has been completed.”

Other than these things, the meeting went relatively well.
