I listened to the Dick Wadhams interview with Dan Caplis.🔗

He is the mouthpiece for the profiteering, equivocating faction of the GOP. They want us to believe that open primaries and pandering to the unaffiliated is how things have been all along and we’re attempting some sort of radical never-been-done-before coup by only allowing Republicans to vote for our candidates. It’s a gaslighting technique that has, regrettably, worked on a fair number of Republicans.

The exact opposite is true: Colorado primaries were closed until a mere seven years ago. The radical change was opening them and all the woes this party has borne in election cycles since are directly correlated to open primaries.
So why does Dick Wadhams and the consultant class of the GOP fight so ferociously to protect open primaries? Could it be that they’re making money on these campaigns? We already know that petition candidates are good sources of revenue and many, if not most, of the GOP candidates on the general ballots since open primaries have been petition candidates.

It is also noteworthy that crises make for great fundraising opportunities. Fear-mongering to the GOP faithful has undoubtedly been successful for groups like Advance Colorado, Peak Republicans, et al. If the GOP were successful and there was no imminent threat from tyrannical Dems, their crisis funding would dry up.

Dick Wadhams makes himself out to be the spokesperson for unaffiliated. His pleading on behalf of the unaffiliated bloc failed to recognize any of the myriad reasons they choose to be unaffiliated. Neither does Dick present or even consider the very likelihood that closing the primary election would be a compelling reason for someone to affiliate. I don’t know how Dick is able to channel the wants and needs of such an amorphous section of the population—unaffiliated voters don’t have a platform or an agreed upon agenda other than they seem to be disillusioned by one party or another—but in an effort to water down the GOP further he has done just that.

Rather than present a strong stance for our republic, Dick Wadhams would have the GOP pander to some imaginary “middle” that is really the woke left. Here is what Dick is pushing: If we don’t sell out our values, the Dems posing as unaffiliated voters won’t vote for our candidates. Dick Wadhams is emblematic of what is wrong with not only our party but with our country. Dick won’t fight our actual enemies in the Dem party; it is more advantageous to fight his own Republicans working to make a stronger party because weakness becomes him and benefits him and the consultant class. Dick is afraid of the patriots who are leading the COGOP and he is especially afraid of a GOP that could stand on its own without the shyster consultant class.

Note from MyColoradoGOP's Peg Cage

Wadhams and the "shyster consultant class" were successful in dissuading🔗 the majority of the Colorado Republican Central Committee (CRC) from voting to Opt-Out at the meeting in 2021.  Consequentially, the party endured another one of Dick's beloved Open Primaries in 2022.  The result of that primary election was a general election ballot full of "Republican" Pay-To-Play candidates.  Wadhams called them “very strong candidates” and blamed the general election Republican blow-out losses throughout Colorado on "demographic shifts and the national Republican brand."  (Translation: The patriots are waking up and refusing to vote for RINOs and a lot of them like Trump.)

In the Colorado Public Radio article with the Wadham’s quote above, titled 'An extinction level event': Colorado Republicans react to deep election losses, Wadhams opined "Frankly, it couldn't be much worse."  Anna Ferguson HAD THIS REPLY🔗, firmly rebutting Dick Wadhams and placing the blame where it belongs - on people like him.

Here’s the good news for Colorado Republicans – Anna is now the Secretary of the CRC and Todd Watkins is running to fill the Vice Chairman vacancy.   Dave Williams was elected as the Chairman of State Party, not in small part because of his strong support of the Opt-Out in 2021.  Here’s a link to the website he put up then.  https://www.electionintegrityfight.com/home.
